PATIALA: A 24-year-old man allegedly died of drug overdose in a village in Punjab's Sangrur district.
Police have registered a case against three persons who allegedly provided drugs to the youth. Two of the accused have been nabbed by the police.
The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh. He had left home on May 13 to meet some of his friends.
Later, his body was found by some villagers who further informed the family.
Gurpreet was taken to a private hospital in Lehra but was referred to a higher institute and taken to a hospital in Sangrur for treatment where he was declared dead by the doctors.
The case was registered on the complaint of Rajvir Singh, the cousin of the deceased. The police booked Sukhvir Singh, Jaswant Singh Gaggi, Gaggu in connection with the case.
"No syringes were recovered from the spot. However, some marks were spotted on the body of deceased Gurpreet. His family claimed he had died of drug overdose. We have detained Jaswant Singh and Sukhvir Singh.
"The family revealed that Gurpreet had married am NRI woman in Canada around a year back and was about to go to Canada soon. His Visa reached his home today but he is no more," Rajvir Sai.
