Call for No Vehicle Day in Parbhani today
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: District guardian minister Meghana Bordikar appealed to citizens in Parbhani for a ‘No Vehicle Day’ on Sunday amid an ongoing fuel crisis.
Bordikar said that conserving energy and fuel for national interest is the responsibility of every citizen.
“Let us give our vehicles a rest for just one day and thereby contribute our small share to the national interest. Guided by the spirit of fuel conservation as emphasized by PM Narendra Modi, environmental protection, and patriotism, every citizen should participate in this ‘No Vehicle Day’ initiative,” she said.
Bordikar, who is the Minister of state for health, also said citizens should make use of public transport and bicycles on a long-term basis.
Separately, Anil Makariye, chairman of the standing committee of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation has started using an electric vehicle for his daily official duties
“I have responded to the appeal of fuel conservation delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Through my small deed, I have endeavored to convey the message that citizens of the city, too, should prioritize fuel conservation to the greatest extent possible and embrace an eco-friendly lifestyle,” he said.
Responding proactively to an appeal by the PM, MSEDCL has said that its chairman and managing director Lokesh Chandra and few other senior officials have commenced the use of electric vehicles.
“In alignment with the state govt’s Electric Vehicle Policy 2025, MSEDCL has prioritized electric vehicles over petrol and diesel vehicles. In the first phase, a procurement process for electric vehicles was implemented for senior officials within the top management and special follow-up efforts are being taken to expedite the availability of the remaining electric vehicles,” said Dnyaneshwar Ardad, public relations officer for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar zone of MSEDCL, said.
