Hailstorm hits parts of Dharashiv & Latur

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Brief spells of moderate rain accompanied by hailstorms swept across parts of Dharashiv and Latur districts on Tuesday evening, in line with the official weather forecast. Lohara taluka in Dharashiv district, along with Latur city and Ausa, Nilanga and Ahmedpur talukas in Latur district, were among the areas in Marathwada that experienced hail."After partly cloudy skies during the latter half of the day, rain began around 7.30pm along with hail. The spell lasted for more than half an hour, bringing a sudden change in weather," Latur resident Amit Washikar said.The unseasonal weather is expected to impact rabi crops currently in the harvesting stage across the region.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), isolated light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, is likely to continue in Marathwada till Thursday. The disaster management department has issued a warning about potential lightning incidents over the next 48 hours and urged residents to take necessary precautions.
