Bareilly: A 50-year-old ward boy was found hanging inside the burn ward of Bareilly District Hospital on Friday evening, police said.
Hospital staff said Pradeep Pathak, a resident of Kanhiya Tola Bada Bazaar under the Kila police station area, reported for duty as usual on Friday. However, around 8pm, colleagues noticed he was missing. When staff members forced open the door of a room inside the ward, they found Pathak hanging from a noose.
Police sent the body it post-mortem. Pathak is survived by his wife and a married daughter. His family members arrived at the hospital shortly after the incident.
City SP Manush Pareek said a suicide note was recovered from the spot. “The contents of the note suggest that the deceased may have taken the extreme step due to mounting debt. However, the matter is being investigated and due legal procedure will be followed,” he said.
Police said the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be formally established, and all possible angles are being examined.
