Minor boy rapes 18-month-old girl, hands her back to parents
BAREILLY: An 18-month-old girl was raped by a 17-year-old boy on Monday evening in the Sadar Kotwali area of the city. The girl is presently undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
After raping her, the boy handed the unconscious girl over to her parents and left. Only in the morning, when the parents found her bleeding profusely, did they figure out that something was wrong.

Medical examination confirmed rape. Subsequently, the accused was arrested.
The girl’s father is a rickshaw-puller by profession. The family resides in a one-room settlement. According to reports, the accused is the son of an immediate neighbour.
The 17-year-old reportedly took the infant girl for an outing on Monday. He returned about an hour later and told the family that their daughter had fallen asleep on the way. The victim’s parents never suspected any foul play till in the morning when they found her bleeding from her private parts.
The family soon informed the local police, who took the toddler for a medical examination, which confirmed sexual assault, said SSP Badaun, Saumitra Yadav. Based on statements of the victim’s family and neighbours, the police arrested the accused, who was found hiding in a nearby forest.
A case has been filed against him under section 376 (b) of the SC/ST Act and POCSO Act. He was presented before court on Wednesday and was sentenced to two weeks of judicial custody in a juvenile home, said Yadav. Further action will be decided in the next hearing.
