Woman commits suicide, kin allege murder

Bareilly: Rashmi Patel, 28, a resident of Subhashnagar, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room on Wednesday morning. Rashmi, who got married six months ago, allegedly took the step following altercation with her husband, Alok.
The family of the deceased have, however, alleged that their daughter was murdered and then hanged to frame the incident as suicide.Police have arrested Alok and the body has been sent for post mortem.
According to the family members, the duo had a fight over a missing PAN card, on Monday. The altercation revived on Wednesday morning when the duo were again locked in a heated conversation following which the husband left for work.
The miffed woman allegedly locked herself inside a room and hanged herself. She was discovered by the family after her whereabouts were unknown for a while. Alok as well as the deceased’s kin rushed to the spot after getting information.
“We have arrested Alok and a case of dowry death has been lodged against him and three others from the family,” police told TOI.
