BAREILLY: Within a span of 24 hours, two women sustained severe injuries after they were shot at from close range in separate incidents.
Station officer Rajesh Kumar said FIRs have been lodged in both cases and the alleged culprits are at large.
On Sunday morning, one Taravati Rathor, 38, was shot on the chest and hand allegedly by her brother-in-law over a property dispute.
He attacked her while she was busy with daily chores at her residence in Faridpur. Her son who rushed to her aide was also shot in the arm.
Tarawati’s husband Dharmveer Singh Rathor claimed his brother Nilendra and his wife Preeti came to his residence in the morning, shouted at his wife and manhandled her. Then in a fit of rage, Nilendra opened fire with his licenced pistol at Tarawati. His son Brahmjeet was also injured. He said he was not at home when they were attacked.
In another incident in Bithari, one Trivendra Kumar allegedly opened fire with his double barrel gun at a shopkeeper, Danni Devi, on Saturday after she refused to give him chewing tobacco on credit. Her husband Netram Singh was also hit when he came to the spot on hearing the commotion.
