5 spl teams formed to nab rowdy’s killers
Bengaluru: Police have formed five special teams to catch the killers of 31-year-old Mahesha alias Siddapura Mahesha, the rowdy-sheeter who was hacked to death minutes after he walked out of Central Prison.
“We are probing all angles and are confident of nabbing the assailants at the earliest,” said deputy commissioner of police (southeast) CK Baba.

Preliminary investigation revealed that it was a well-planned and executed murder.
Mahesha had a rivalry with the notorious rowdy Wilson Garden Naga following his involvement in the murder of the latter’s friend Madan N near Banashankari temple in July 2021. Mahesha was lodged at Central Prison, Parappana Agrahara, and was later shifted to the jail in Ballari. However, he was released on bail during the assembly elections in May. He then got married to a 27-year-old woman. On realising there was a threat to his life, Mahesha surrendered in another case of attempt to murder registered at Talaghattapura station and went back to prison.
Mahesha was involved in at least 12 cases, including murder, attempt to murder, and extortion. He was released on bail in the Talaghattapura case on Friday evening and a group of his friends had picked him up in a car. When they reached Hosur Road junction, a car-borne gang intercepted the vehicle and started attacking Mahesha. He got down from the car and started running, but the gang chased him for 100m before hacking him to death even as his pals fled.
Information about Mahesha’s release is suspected to have leaked to his rivals from inside the prison.
