70-yr-old woman murdered at home

After a lull, murderers targeting elderly women are in the news again.A 70-year-old, alone at home on Friday, was killed by a gang of three at Basavapura, Electronic City. Police suspect the killers are carpenters working in the same locality.

BANGALORE: After a lull, murderers targeting elderly women are in the news again.A 70-year-old, alone at home on Friday, was killed by a gang of three at Basavapura, Electronic City. Police suspect the killers are carpenters working in the same locality.
Srinivas Hatthulari (31) left his mother Jayalakshmi at their apartment and went with his wife Amritha and children to a spiritual centre on Kanakapura Road.

When they returned around 10.15 pm, they saw three persons running out of the house. In the melee, one fell from the building and caught by alert neighbours, police said.
He has been identified as Chotu.When Srinivas entered the house, he found Jayalakshmi on the floor; her throat was slit with a knife. Police said Chotu and his two friends were trying to steal valuables from the house when the victim must have caught them.
Valuables stolen
Ankit Bhatia (24), a resident of Jakkasandra in Koramangala, has complained to police that four persons entered barged into his house on Friday and fled with valuables worth Rs 30,000. Ankit was apparently partying with friends.
Two arrested
Basavanagudi police have arrested two vehicle-lifters who used to steal two-wheelers parked in front of houses. The arrested are Siddique (20) and Mansoor Mehbooob (33); police have recovered two vehicles worth Rs 75,000 from them.
