Arrested anti-tuition agitators released

chitradurga: the chitradurga police who had taken five student agitators into custody, agitating against home tuitions by university teachers in front of deputy commissioner's residence here on monday had to release all, at the intervention of dcc chief g.s. manjunath and congress worker b.g. srinivas, it is learnt. the dcc chief criticised the police for arresting peaceful agitators, against home tuitions by university teachers on sunday.kumara gouda, student leader of national student union of india (nsui) told the times of india on tuesday that the dc, instead of taking action against errant teachers taking tuitions at the cost of their lectures, were threatening the students. meanwhile, the chitradurga dysp held a meeting with the principals of colleges in his chambers and deliberated on stopping tuitions as was done at davanagere, it is learnt.
