Bengaluru: An outreach and awareness programme on New Income Tax Act- 2025 was organised by the income tax department Thursday. With the new Act coming into force from April this year along with consequential revisions to the rules and prescribed forms, officials said the reforms aim to make tax laws simpler, clearer, and more taxpayer-friendly, thereby promoting ease of compliance for all categories of taxpayers.
The programme, ‘Prarambh-2026’ focused on facilitating a smooth transition from the Income-tax Act-1961 to the Income Tax Act- 2025, with emphasis on simplification of provisions, rationalisation of sections and forms, and enhancement of taxpayer facilitation measures.
The event also featured demonstrations of the department’s digital initiatives, including the ‘Kar Saathi’ AI Chatbot and awareness programme ‘Kar Setu’. Vidisha Kalra, principal chief commissioner of Income Tax, Karnataka & Goa region and tennis player Rohan Bopanna were present.
