BENGALURU: About 800 BMTC drivers, conductors and cleaners were treated by a team of Vikram Hospital recently during a two-day comprehensive health check-up camp for BMTC union members at Majestic Bus Stand recently. This was done In association with Lion's club.
The camp provided basic health screening of vitals, BMI, Blood Pressure, Random Blood sugar, ECG and doctor consultation.
Sudhir Pai, Executive and Chief Executive Officer, Vikram Hospital said, “The two-day camp was a huge success and we came across patients who were keen on seeking advice on their medical conditions. These bus drivers have a responsible job of transporting thousands of people each day facing many obstacles. We are happy to organise and conduct this health camp for the benefit of bus drivers”.
He further added, “During the camp, we came across many drivers suffering from piles, heart ailments, hypertension, sugar etc and our doctors provided much needed consultation to address the health woes”.
Speaking on this initiative, Lion C R Jagannatha Rao from Lions club of Bangalore Sanjayanagar said, “We understand that the bus drivers are constantly exposed to pollution, dust, adverse climatic conditions and such health camps are important to assess their health and take preventive measures".
