Police commissioner N Achuta Rao has suspended six police officials for detaining three children, suspecting them to be thieves.

BANGALORE: Police commissioner N Achuta Rao has suspended six police officials for detaining three children.
Hanumanthanagar police inspector Dharanesh, sub-inspector Lava, ASI Shivanna, head constable Renuka and constable Ramesh allegedly detained children and tortured them at the station.
Another CCB constable, Lakshmana, has also been suspended. Dharanesh had picked up two children, who were playing in a garden, suspecting them to be thieves.
Similarly, Lakshmana had picked up a boy and took him to the CCB office near Royan Circle.

Later, the boy was taken to Hanumanthnagar. After a day, an NGO held a demostration in front of the station to protest aganist the torturing of children.
On Friday, high court judge V Gopala Gowda wrote to the State Human Rights Commission to take action against the erring officals.
Based on the report submitted by DCP (South) S Ravi, the commissioner suspended these cops.
