Corp to issue notices over compound wall violations

Bengaluru: Bengaluru East City Corporation (BECC) directed officials to identify residential and commercial buildings with compound walls exceeding the permissible height prescribed under National Building Code (NBC) and issue notices to owners for compliance.

BECC commissioner DS Ramesh issued the directive Wednesday during a review meeting on the progress of development and engineering works across corporation limits. Officials were told to conduct inspections and initiate action against violations as part of broader efforts to improve public safety and urban infrastructure management.

The commissioner ordered immediate identification of dilapidated and structurally unsafe buildings that pose a threat to public life and property. Officials have been asked to take action, including demolition wherever required, and submit weekly progress reports.
