Drivers’ protest may hit auto services today

Bangalore's auto drivers are protesting because the government has decided to allow electric bikes and whiteboard bike taxis to ferry people. These drivers fear that this will affect their revenue as customers may switch to other modes. Manjunath, the convener of Bangalore's auto drivers' union federation, said that the frequency of autos will be less as many drivers will take part in the stir.

Bengaluru: There may be fewer autorickshaws on the road on Thursday with many drivers planning to take out a rally from Freedom Park to Vidhana Soudha.They are opposing the government’s decision to allow electric bikes and white-board bike taxis to ferry people. Auto drivers fear this will affect their revenue as customers may switch to other modes.
