Karnataka election news: JD(S) manifesto promises Rs 2 lakh each to young ryots' brides

Former PM and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda on Saturday released a 12-point manifesto in which the party laid emphasis on women's empowerment and development of farmers. Among other promises, it announced Rs 2 lakh cash incentive each to brides of young farmers.

BENGALURU: Former PM and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda on Saturday released a 12-point manifesto in which the party laid emphasis on women's empowerment and development of farmers. Among other promises, it announced Rs 2 lakh cash incentive each to brides of young farmers.
In the manifesto, the party said it will provide five free LPG cylinders in a year, waive loans taken by Stree Shakti Groups, provide Rs 6,000 allowance to pregnant women for six months, hike widow pension from Rs 900 to Rs 2,500 and give pension to people who've completed 15 years of service.

The party also proposed to provide Rs 10,000 subsidy per acre to farmers; Rs 2,000 monthly allowance for farm labourers; Rs 2 lakh subsidy to women who marry youths who've taken up farming.
In the manifesto, JD(S) promised to exert pressure on the central government to conduct exams in Kannada for civil services and defence recruitments. The party promised that if voted to power, it will table a bill to provide reservations for Kannadigas in the private sector. It proposed to distribute 6.8 lakh bicycles and EV mopeds to 60,000 government college girl students free of cost.
