'Let us solve it with hosh, not josh'

BANGALORE: The 'Gokak-style agitation' to 'save' the Kannada film industry was put on hold on Sunday after some top stars said they were reluctant to go through with it.

"No doubt, holding an agitation to save the industry is inevitable. But the problem can be solved through discussion. We have to take every sector of the industry into confidence and sort out the matter," actor-turned-politician Ambarish told a meeting of the film industry here.<br /><br />Joining hands with him, Vishnuvardhan felt the need of the hour was <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">hosh</span> (wisdom). "Let us tackle this problem with <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">hosh</span> and not mere <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">josh</span> (excitement)."<br /><br /></div> </div><div class="section2"><div class="Normal">"If theatre owners continue to boycott new Kannada releases, then agitation becomes necessary," Upendra contended.<br /><br />However, producers'' association president Basant Kumar Patil maintained that the ''Gokak agitation'' style rally was still on. "It has been put on hold in view of tomorrow''s meeting of the government panel on films. Depending on the outcome, we will decide when to hold the rally," he said.<br /><br />The four-hour meeting saw the who''s who of tinsel town. Barring thespian Rajkumar and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president S. Ramesh, everyone else made it. But theatre owners stayed away.<br /><br />Sunday with a difference: It was a star-studded Sunday for the orthodox residents of Malleswaram. They were not only ''shocked'' to see top stars in their neighbourhood, but also made a beeline to the venue to take a closer look. The presence of ''Rebel Star'' Ambarish, ''Sahasa Simha'' Vishnuvardhan, Upendra, ''Hat-trick Hero'' Shivrajkumar, ''Navarasa Nayaka'' Jaggesh...only heightened their anxiety.</div> </div>
