BENGALURU: A 27-year-old employee with Ninja Cart, a B2B fresh produce supply chain company, has gone missing after police questioned him in connection with the theft of Rs 8 lakh cash from his workplace last week.
Police identified the missing employee as N Pradeep of Begur.
S Nagaraj, a Begur resident, has filed a police complaint saying his son, N Pradeep, left home leaving behind a letter in which he said he was innocent and felt like committing suicide after all the harassment he had to face.
Nagaraj told TOI that Pradeep worked as a supervisor with Ninja Cart for more than two years. On November 4, about Rs 8 lakh went missing from the office and based on a complaint filed by the firm’s manager, Begur police questioned many employees including Pradeep for two consecutive days.
Nagaraj said Pradeep was upset after police questioned him on November 5 and 6. Pradeep and others visited the station in the morning and returned in the evening on both days.
“On November 6 evening, my son called me from the station and I went there. Police said they need to seize Pradeep’s mobile to which I agreed. We returned home and Pradeep went to sleep without having dinner. The next afternoon, around 12.30pm, Pradeep left home on his motorbike and did not return.
He had left a note on the dining table. It read: ‘I am innocent and I would not like to put my family members into trouble. It hurts to see my family members standing outside the police station and waiting for me. I am sorry. Don’t waste your time searching for me. It is for sure that I will die and my body will not be recovered’,” Nagaraj said.
Police said they have no clue about Pradeep. “We are doing our best to trace him. It is true that we had questioned Pradeep and others in the missing money case. We have no idea why Pradeep felt bad for questioning him,” Begur police said.
