<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">MANGALORE: The second day of Techsplash ''04 on Saturday, organised by the students'' chapter of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), progressed with gathering momentum befitting the laudable inauguration held on Friday, here at the National Institute of Karnataka (NITK), Suratkal. <br /><br />The end of the first day was highlighted by the full scale video-conferencing held for the very first time at NITK.

The first conference was held between Dr Rajkumar Pallana, Director of Six Sigma at Honeywell; Anand J S of Pequot Venture, New York and Muralidhar S, Director of Merit Trac Services. <br /><br />The conference centred around generating ventures and the lifestyles of international students studying in the USA. The second video conferencing was held with Dr KRS Murthy, former director IIM-B, who introduced the students to the corporate world. <br /><br />The success of the video-conferencing sessions was marked by the willingness expressed by Baliga, the Karnataka Chief of BSNL, to provide a permanent video conferencing facility on campus to help foreign companies recruit students for advanced placement. ''Logistics'', the design contest intended to test both speed and accuracy in programming showcased several innovative presentations by the brilliant young contestants gathered for the technical symposium from all over the country. <br /><br />The events scheduled for the second day included Project Presentations covering a wide range of topics within each of the eight engineering branches. ''Computious'' the Computer Engineering paper presentation was an interactive session spanning wide areas of computer technology such as networks, databases, microprocessors and so on. ''Mechrage'' showcased projects such the winning project on crawlers, ''Crawler Launching System'', ''Stress Analysis of Indian Railway Bogie Frame'', ''Piesiallagism'' and others; ''Tronica'' covered topics like optical communication, echo cancellers, image and speech processing, ECG, signal processing, wireless networks and so on. <br /><br />''Chemystery'', ''Civilisation'', ''Metallica'', ''Minesport'' and ''Tric-it-All'' were all contested for in prevailing spirit of intense competition and the mushrooming of novel ideas and insights into the world of technical achievements and mechanisms. <br /><br />The simultaneous contribution of the Stargazing Club of NITK was a day long presentation of informative videos and photographic insights on scientific forays into space. Themes covered included the progress of Mars Rover and the consequences of its probable landing on Mars at the end of 2004; and introductory views of the various stars and planets that populate the night sky. Other notable events included the lecture by Santhosh Huralikoppi on Process Outsourcing. <br /><br />Entrepreneurship, business plans and associative market changes were elaborately discussed.<br /><br /><formid=367815></formid=367815></div> </div>
