25-year-old man held for printing counterfeit currency in Singrauli

Bhopal: A 25-year-old man was arrested on charges of printing counterfeit currency notes at home in Singrauli. The accused told police that he learned to make fake currency from social media platforms.The accused, Dinesh Saket alias Chintu, is a resident of Banauli locality under the jurisdiction of Waidhan police station.Police said that for the past few days, Vindhyanagar police station in charge Archana Dwivedi had been receiving information that a person in the area was attempting to circulate counterfeit currency, following which a police team was formed to probe the matter.On Sept 12, police received a tip-off that a person was going to deliver a batch of counterfeit notes in Dhonti village. Acting on this information, a team led by sub inspector Sandeep Namdev was sent to the spot, where Saket was spotted. The accused was interrogated on the spot and on search, counterfeit notes of Rs 100 and Rs 200 were recovered from him.Saket confessed to printing counterfeit notes at home using a printer and circulating them in the market. He told police that he learned how to print fake notes through a video on YouTube.Following his confession, a colour printer, laptop, paper, and other equipment used to make counterfeit notes were seized from his house in Banauli.Police also seized counterfeit notes of total face value of Rs 38,400 in denominations of Rs 500 (four notes), Rs 100 (110 notes), and Rs 200 (127 notes). The accused admitted to preparing counterfeit Rs 50 notes as well, which he had used to buy goods from small shopkeepers who did not check the notes thoroughly due to their low value.The counterfeit notes seized from the suspect are being analysed, and a probe is being carried out to determine how many counterfeit currency the suspect printed and where they were circulated, said police.Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Valentine's day wishes, messages and quotes !
