BHOPAL: Bairagarh police on Friday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves with the arrest of three women. The gang allegedly committed four thefts and stolen booty worth Rs 3 lakh was recovered. The kingpin indulged in conversation with shopkeepers while her son and daughter and another woman lifted valuables from the shops. Recently the gang targeted a showroom and stole valuables where they were captured on the CCTV cameras.
SHO Bairagarh DP Singh said that Jagdish Dadlani (30), runs a garment and artificial jewellery shop at Mini Market in Bairagarh. He told the police that on February 6, three women and a youth approached his shop posing as customers and after involving the employees in conversation, they stole garments and artificial jewellery worth Rs 85,000.
Acting on his complaint, police registered a theft case against the accused. When police checked the footage of CCTVs installed in the shop, the four accused including three women and a youth were spotted committing the theft. They were identified on the basis of the CCTV footage as Munni alias
Sheela alias Rajni Chouhan, 48, her daughter Shivani Chouhan, 22, son Gaurav Chouhan alias Golu, 23, all residents of Jain Nagar in Lalghati and Neha Thakur, 30, a resident of Ashoka Garden.
When they were interrogated, they revealed of committing the thefts.
SHO Singh said that police recovered stolen booty worth Rs 3 lakh from their possession including one suit, one sherwani, baba suit, artificial jewellery, gold bangles, and cash Rs 55000. They had stolen a mobile phone too but they disposed it in a lake.
SHO Singh said that the accused revealed of committing four theft incidents at various shops in Bairagarh during this year and last year. In October 2021, they stole gold bangles from a jewellery shop at Sarafa Market in Bairagarh. They have cases registered against them at Kotwali police station too.
