BHOPAL: A 27-year-old Bairagarh based woman, was allegedly duped by an online fraudster to the tune of Rs 43200.
Bairagarh police on Friday acting on a complaint filed by the victim registered a case against the unidentified accused and started investigations.
Bairagarh SHO DP Singh said that the complainant Divya Kriplani, 27, a resident of Bairagarh, runs a business of selling cosmetics online.
She alleged that last year in April 2021, an unidentified accused called on her mobile number and introduced himself as a defence personnel.
He said that he wanted to purchase cosmetic items from her and offered to pay the amount online.
He said that his friend would contact her and take the delivery of the items. He chose some cosmetic items to purchase. Subsequently, he sent a QR code to her through WhatsApp for payment. However, as soon as
Divya scanned the QR code, Rs 43200 were deducted from her bank account linked to her
UPI online wallet. She realised that she was duped and approached the cyber-crime branch to lodge a complaint. The case was transferred to Bairagarh police for further investigations.
