Bhopal: Fraudster poses as relative, dupes man of Rs 49,000

A 37-year-old man was duped of Rs 40,990 by an unidentified fraudster in Koh-e-Fiza on October 24. Police said the accused introduced himself to the complainant as one of his relatives who lives in Nagpur.

BHOPAL: A 37-year-old man was duped of Rs 40,990 by an unidentified fraudster in Koh-e-Fiza on October 24. Police said the accused introduced himself to the complainant as one of his relatives who lives in Nagpur.
The complainant Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Koh-e-Fiza, told police that the caller who identified himself as his relative Vijay asked for money, saying he was in urgent need.

The call had come from an unidentified number so, Sandeep checked it on caller-identification application and found his relative's picture with the number.
"Believing that the accused was his relative, he transferred Rs 20,000 in two transactions and Rs 20990 ib the third transaction." said SI Ram Karan. When the complainant learnt that he was duped, he approached cyber crime branch police to file a complaint. Acting on his complaint a zero FIR was registered at cyber police and the case diary was transferred to Koh-e-Fiza police station as the incident took place in Koh-e-Fiza locality.
On receiving zero FIR on Saturday a case of fraud was registered against the user of the said mobile number and further investigation is underway to nab him, police added.
