Bhopal: A braveheart engineering student saved two lives in Kaliasot Dam of Bhopal on Sunday evening after three teenaged boys had ventured into the water. However, one boy is still missing. Rescue operation was stopped after sunset and would begin again on Monday, police said.
Braveheart Saksham Sethi, a second year engineering student, told TOI that he was at the dam along with a friend.
He loves bird watching and had gone to the dam to pursue his hobby.
"I saw three teenaged boys entering the water. Four others who were their friends, were coming out of the water at the same time. I was busy bird watching when I heard the three who were in the water crying out for help. Initially, their friends thought they were acting. But, I knew that they were gradually going into deep waters. "I immediately jumped in and managed to bring two of them out. However, I was not able to save the third boy," Sethi said.
"Saving two lives is a great feeling, but at the same time it feels bad that I was unable to save the third boy," he added. The saviour is son of Anant Sethi, director, aviation, Madhya Pradesh and stays in Char Imli. He had represented Bhopal district in swimming in the past.
Chuna Bhatti police station's station house officer Manoj Patwa said the three teenaged boys - Abhijeet, Ram and Rajesh - had entered the water behind the temple at Kaliasot Dam. All three boys reside in Kotra Sultanabad area and sells newspapers.
Sethi rescued two of them but Abhijeet is still missing. Rescue operation had to be stopped after sunset. The boy is feared dead. Abhijeet's father is a security guard in a school. Abhijeet is eldest of the three brothers.
The SHO said the depth of water where the boys went in is around 25 feet. He added that municipal corporation divers would come with their equipment and start the rescue operation to find the boy.
