Father allegedly rapes and murders 8-year-old daughter in Madhya Pradesh, throws body in well

BHOPAL: An 8-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her father, who then disposed of her body in a nearby well. The incident was reported from Chachauda village in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh.

The accused took his daughter to a field, raped her, assaulted her and tied her hands and feet with a towel before throwing her into the well. It remains unclear if she was alive at the time.

The girl had been missing since Wednesday, leading her family to file a missing person report with the police. On Sunday, the accused was arrested and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime. He stated that he had hated his daughter since her birth, longing for a male child.

The villagers initially suspected that the girl might have fallen into a nearby drain and been swept away by the strong current. The SDERF team was called in to assist in the search, which lasted for three days.

On Saturday, the girl's body was found in the well, with her hands and feet tied with a stone using a towel. The police retrieved the body and conducted a post-mortem examination.

The father had been under suspicion from the beginning of the investigation, as he remained inside his home while the search efforts were being conducted by her grandfather. He also exhibited uncooperative behaviour during questioning.

Villagers reported seeing the girl with her father on the day she went missing and made negative remarks about him. After the girl's last rites on Sunday morning, her father was taken into custody and interrogated. He initially denied any involvement but eventually confessed to the crime when confronted with inconsistencies in his statements.
