Bhopal/Jabalpur: A division bench of MP high court issued notices to MP Medical University and medical education department of the state government in response to a petition filed by an NRI student saying that he is being asked to deposit $ 4800 as against Rs 200 under various heads on demanding a provisional degree of MBBS. The petitioner Daniyal Sheikh said that he had taken admission in a private medical college of the state under NRI quota and completed his
MBBS course in 2021.
After completing his internship in October 2022, he is preparing for the NEET-PG exam. A provisional MBBS degree certificate is a must for the purpose. He had applied for a provisional degree of MBBS at the MP Medical University.
When he was not issued a provisional degree, he contacted the office of the university. The university officials asked him to deposit $ 4800 under various heads including library fee, university development fee.
Though the fee for issuing a provisional degree is only Rs 200. Aditya Sanghi, counsel for the petitioner contended that the provisional degree is a property of the petitioner, and he is being asked $ 4800 for it which amounts to Rs 3.75 lakh as against the fee of Rs 200. tnn
