BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Congress has come out strongly against BJP for recent hike in taxes and for failing to curb inflation. "The BJP government has failed to deliver on its promise of good days (achche din), which is contrary to it’s pro-people claim’’, said state Congress president Arun Yadav.
Comparing price hike during year 2015, Yadav said, in one year beginning January 01, price of essential commodities have gone up by 105 per cent.
In the beginning of 2015, price of pulses, rice, wheat, onion and edible oils has escalated from 25 to 105 per cent. ''A steep hike in rates was observed after budget when oil prices in the international market crashed to a record low, prices of essential commodities rose to a record high in the country’’, said Yadav.
Yadav said not only the housewives but the breadwinners are also crying as government has failed to rein in inflation. Besides, additional taxes and VAT imposed by the state government has added financial burden to the common man. Water and electricity tariff, medicines and even price of milk has gone high while government is levying cleanliness tax and additional commercial tax on the public.
The Congress will protest against the price rise if immediate relief is not given to the public, warned Yadav.
