Bhopal: The state capital was engulfed by a thick envelope of fog early morning hours on Monday as the mercury plummeted to 7.2 degrees Celsius. South-westerly winds made the weather cold, and residents experienced biting cold for the first time.
The fog also disrupted train services as several passenger trains were delayed. The Met office has in its forecast warned of moderate fog in the city on Tuesday.
It also issued alerts for fog and cold at several places in the state.
People in the city woke up to a dense fog and visibility was very poor. But as the sun broke out the fog started clearing by 8 am.
Children whose schools reopened after the Christmas vacations were in for trouble with the cold being maximum between 7 am and 10 am. Kids were seen in school buses
The minimum temperature in the state capital was 7.2 degrees Celsius which was 3 degrees below the normal. tnn
