BHOPAL: W V K Krishna Shankar has been appointed as director on the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) board. Shankar, 57, has assumed charge as director (industrial systems and products) of the Maharatna public sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise on Thursday.
Prior to this, he was heading the company’s corporate planning and development wing as executive director.
He has also worked with the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council formed by the government of India.
He was associated with the drafting of the ‘National Strategy for Manufacturing’ in March 2006, as well as the recommendations forming a part of the ‘report of the PM’s group on measures for ensuring sustained growth of the Indian manufacturing sector in September, 2008.
