BHOPAL: Villagers led by relatives of a missing tribal attacked police in Damoh district after his skeletal remains were recovered from a forest area on Tuesday night. They blamed police for his murder.
The incident took place at Kot-tala village under Jabalpur Naka police station where a tribal Dhuman Singh, 29 was reported missing by his family last Tuesday.
In a complaint lodged with the chawki, his family members had named a few suspects citing he was abducted on way to a wedding party. His family members claimed that the persons named by them were not interrogated despite repeated requests.
Villagers got angry after his mutilated body parts were found in a forest were found in the forest and identified on the basis of shoes. They thronged the chawki and attacked police with shoes and bottles. Additional force was dispatched to chawki to rescue the police from adjoining police stations to control the situation.
Villagers returned only after senior officers assured them of proper investigation in the case and action against guilty policemen. Case of murder has been registered against unidentified person.
