SIMI operatives sentenced in MP's Dewas bank robbery case

A special NIA court here awarded SIMI operatives Abu Faisal and Iqrar Sheikh life sentences on charges of carrying out bank robbery at Dewas. Trial of the case was being conducted in a Bhopal court following directives of the MP high court. The convicts are already in jail after being sentenced by the court in the Manappuram Gold robbery case.

BHOPAL: A special NIA court here awarded SIMI operatives Abu Faisal and Iqrar Sheikh life sentences on charges of carrying out bank robbery at Dewas. According to PRO, prosecution wing, Bhopal, eye witnesses in the case recognised Iqrar Sheikh while fingerprints found at Vijaya Ganj Mandi branch Bank of India, Dewas, tallied with the fingerprints of Abu Faisal. The Vijaya Ganj police station had registered a case on August 24, 2009 following robbery at Bank of India branch in the area. According to the FIR, when working hours of the bank had ended, four persons came into the bank from the main gate.
