Bhopal: Thieves allegedly targeted two vacant houses in separate incidents in Nishatpura and TT Nagar, decamping with cash and valuables worth several lakhs.
In the Nishatpura area, burglars allegedly broke into the locked house of deputy ranger Shoaib and stole Rs 5 lakh in cash, along with gold and silver jewellery. The incident occurred while Shoaib was admitted to hospital following a recent road accident, and his wife stayed there with him.

Police registered a case on the complaint of his wife, Saba Fatima. According to the complaint, on the evening of Feb 22, she was at the hospital. When she returned home the next morning, she found the main lock broken and household items scattered. Saba, who runs a school, told police that around Rs5 lakh in cash kept at home for school payments and hospital expenses was missing. In addition, approximately 150 gm of gold and 1 kg of silver jewellery was stolen.
In another incident, thieves broke into a locked house in Tulsi Nagar and fled with jewellery and cash worth lakhs. According to police, the complainant, Arsh Pratap Singh, 33, posted as assistant grade-III in the tribal department, left for his native village in Rewa with his family on the night of Feb 6. When the family returned around 6 am on Feb 23, they found the fencing gate locked but the main door lock broken. A probe is on.
