BHOPAL: In yet another incident of lax security on the district court premises in the capital, three under trials, who were brought from central jail to the court for hearing, attacked and injured a fellow jail mate with razor when they were kept in the lock-up on Monday.
The incident took place at around noon after the police van carrying about two dozen undertrials from the central jail in Gandhi Nagar here had come to the district court.
As soon as the undertrials were taken to the lock-up on the court premises, the accused identified as Naushad, Aslam and Bablu allegedly attacked
Rafiq Khan, an undertrial facing a charge of attempt to murder, with razor and injured him. An offence has been registered against the trio after the incident.
Though the policemen were caught off guard by this sudden attack, they managed to overpower one of the accused, who attacked Rafiq with razor.
Rafiq was injured and was taken to the jail hospital for treatment. He was discharged after first aid. Police, however, said Rafiq sustained injuries in his face and back.
Police said all the accused had hidden razors when they were brought to the court for hearing and the reason behind the attack is said to be an old enmity.
MP Nagar police registered a case under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of IPC.
