KORAPUT: An assistant commandant, belonging to the 4th battalion of the
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), posted for anti-Maoist operations in Rayagada district of
Odisha allegedly died by suicide by shooting himself from a AK-47 gun on Tuesday morning.
The deceased officer was identified as Sunil Kumar (48), a resident of Bihar, said police.
According to police, the incident took place around 10.30am at the battalion’s headquarters situated at Indra Nagar in Rayagada town.
“The officer is suspected to have committed suicide. His body was found lying in a pool of blood at the washroom. Investigation is on,” said police.
