BHUBANESWAR: Dance aficionados in the city witnessed some wonderful performances by dancers from across the globe during the three-day first International Dance Congress that concluded here on Friday.
Dancers and dance promoters unanimously lauded the effort, saying the initiative would help promote classical dance.
As many as 76 classical dancers performed at least seven kinds of classical dances during the event.

While Uma Dogra enthralled with her Kathak moves, Swapnarani Sinha showed her Odissi prowess, Shiela Unnikrishnan performed Bharatnatyam and Madhavi Chandran presented Mohiniattam on the concluding evening.
Speaking at the valedictory function, governor M C Bhandare hailed Odisha as the most cultural state of India. He also gave away Nrutya Bidushi awards to noted dance personalities like Priyambada Mohanty Hezmadi, Kalavati Devi, Uma DOgra, Girija Chandran, Sheela Unnikrishnan and Anita Sharma. T S Basuni, Vedantam Ramalinga Sastry and Bikram Gaud were honoured with the Nrutya Bidwan award.
