Magnitude 3.8 earthquake strikes Koraput in Odisha

KORAPUT: Tremors of magnitude of 3.8 on the Ritcher scale were felt in several parts of the tribal-dominated Koraput district on Friday morning.
Officials at the district emergency centre said that the tremors were felt at a few places in Dasmantpur, Laxmipur and Narayanpatna blocks for 2 to 3 seconds at 5.05am.
"The depth of the earthquake was 16 kilometers and its epicenter was between Narayanpatna and Laxmipur blocks of the district.There were no immediate reports of any loss of life and property," said Gyanjeet Tripathy, district emergency officer, Koraput.
"However, the field staff have been instructed to find out if there is any injury or loss of property," he added.
