Odisha govt checks healthcare delivery status ahead of monsoon
Bhubaneswar: With monsoon approaching, the health and family welfare department on Tuesday reviewed the preparedness to strengthen healthcare delivery and disease control measures across Odisha.Health commissioner-cum-secretary Aswathy S chaired a high-level review meeting at the department’s conference room, stressing proactive steps to ensure quality treatment at all levels. Detailed discussions were held on the status of health services in districts, disease control programmes, attendance of doctors and paramedical staff, medicine availability and hospital infrastructure.Taking note of reported cases of food poisoning and jaundice in certain areas, the commissioner directed food inspectors to intensify inspections, while district collectors were asked to submit detailed reports on the incidents.“All district administrations and health officials must remain alert and active to provide timely and quality healthcare, especially during the monsoon when the risk of infectious diseases rises,” the health secretary said.Emphasising accountability of officials, the secretary instructed that the attendance of all officials be closely monitored through AI-based attendance systems and given due importance.“Every member of the health system must work as a team to ensure improved and accessible healthcare for the people of the state,” Aswathy S said, iterating that the department was committed to strengthening public health services.
