BARNALA: A Barnala court has sentenced three persons to double life imprisonment for different crimes - of murder of a man and killing his pregnant wife and raping her. The judgment has been delivered in less than six months of the crime being committed. The court has also fined them Rs 15,000 each.
Karamjit Kaur of Bhadaur, along with Parmod Kumar and Balwinder Singh of Barnala, was arrested on October 13, 2012, for the killing a Bhadaur resident, Mangat Ram, and his wife Sangeeta on the night of October 4.

The court of additional sessions judge B S Sandhu pronounced the judgment on Tuesday.
According to the prosecution, Karamjit, who is into drug trade, Parmod and Balwinder suspected Mangat of knowing their illegal activities and stabbed him before throwing his body into Sehna canal. Later, they went to the victim's house and sexually exploited his pregnant wife, before strangulating her. Before leaving, they took all the money and expensive items from the house.
