Chandigarh: Criticising the
Aam Aadmi Party’s statement of operating their office from outside the Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh due to the refusal of land for their party office, leader of opposition in Punjab assembly Partap Singh Bajwa on Saturday said the AAP should have held protest demonstrations when the state’s legitimate rights on its river waters and its capital were under attack.
"A plan is being made to provide 10 acres to Haryana for its new Vidhan Sabha building in Chandigarh, but Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann opposed it only in media statements,” Bajwa added.
SAD flays Khalsa Aid raids
Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday reacted strongly to the raids being conducted on Sikh individuals and organisations. The party claimed that these raids were “solely based on suspicion” and urged Union home minister Amit Shah to intervene and get “discriminatory acts” stopped. Senior SAD member Prem Singh Chandumajra took exception to the manner in which raids were conducted on Khalsa Aid and NRI Sikh Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi, a British MP, was stopped at Amritsar's international airport.
‘Hry needs storage facility’
Chandigarh: Haryana’s additional chief secretary for agriculture, Sudhir Rajpal, on Saturday stressed the need for using the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund to build storage facilities at the village level for 5,000MT of grains. At a state-level review meeting of the fund scheme, he directed the officers to prioritise the establishment of pack houses for horticulture and vegetable growers, and godowns for the storage of agricultural products and fertilizers.
