Bhagwant Mann on Thursday impressed upon Union housing and development minister
Hardeep Puri to include Mohali in the
Smart City project for its inclusive development.
Mann, who met Puri in Delhi, underscored the need to develop Mohali as a Smart City. He apprised the Union minister that Mohali was part of the Tricity comprising Chandigarh, Mohali and
Panchkula due to which this city holds significance.
He also said that most of the departments of the state government had their head offices there due to which it was imperative to give further fillip to its growth. Mann said that it was the need of hour to include Mohali in the Smart City Project. He added that Mohali and its adjoining municipal committees like Zirakpur, Kharar, Dera Bassi and Kurali had witnessed immense growth with international airport and presence of educational institutes/ townships and industries. He said the area needed special funding to support planned growth and infrastructure development.
Mann also sought restoration of the same ratio of funds under AMRUT 2.0 as was in AMRUT 1.0. TNN
