Chandigarh: The finance and contract committee of Chandigarh municipal corporation has accorded approval to various developmental agenda items, including cremation of unidentified/unclaimed bodies through LPG crematorium, Sector 25, at an estimated cost of Rs 3.42 lakh per year.
The meeting of F&CC was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of mayor Kuldeep Kumar and attended by MC commissioner Anindita Mitra and other members of committee and other senior officers of MC.

The committee discussed the agenda item regarding adjustment of car bazaar fees and recommended it to the ensuing meeting of general house for taking a final decision. The committee approved special repair of cremation ground of Sarangpur village at an estimated cost of Rs 41.43 lakh.
The committee approved augmentation of streetlight system on roads near Industrial Bank and Citco dhaba Industrial Area-I at an estimated cost of Rs 31.28 lakh; providing disabled friendly infrastructure in Waste to Wonder Park, Sector 48 & 32 at an estimated cost of Rs 32.49 lakh; providing high mast lights and solar lights in Terraced Garden Sector 33 at an estimated cost of Rs 45.86 lakh and upgrade of front of market at Sector 30C & D at an estimated cost of Rs 44.96 lakh. Providing and fixing of pipe benches, PCC benches and huts in various parks, green belt and markets of Sector 34, 35 and 43 at an estimated cost of Rs 20.67 lakh was accorded approval.

The committee gave its nod for providing new children play equipments in various park/green belts of Sector 31 and 33 at an estimated cost of Rs 14.57 lakh; procurement of standard mobile toilet vans for use at street vending zone Sector 15 at an estimated cost of Rs 21 lakh; special repair/maintenance of community centre at Maloya Colony at an estimated cost of Rs 24.38 lakh; special repair of damaged streets and footpath in EWS colony, Sector 38D at an estimated cost of Rs 13.77 lakh; augmentation of street lights on V3 road 46/49, 47/48 and 45/50 at an estimated cost of Rs 49.50 lakh; special repair and maintenance of street lights in Japanese Garden, Sector 31, at an estimated cost of Rs 45.59 lakh; and special repair of Dhobi Ghat in Sector 15 at an estimated cost of Rs 45.33 lakh.
The committee approved extension of contracts for operation and maintenance of the gaushala situated at Maloya and Sector 45 for further six months or till finalization of new contract. It also gave nod to Rs 7 lakh sponsorship for refreshments during the State Athletics Championship.
