Cop-turned-ascetic kills college head clerk

HOSHIARPUR: A policeman-turned-baba (ascetic) killed a head clerk of DAV College, Hoshiarpur and then went to the principal’s office to tell that he had finished the man and the police can be called to arrest him.
Accused Rohit Mehta alias Baba Chinu, 35, a former national swimming champion, who was arrested by the police while sitting their without showing any signs of remorse or tension said the deceased had spoilt the professional career of his mother and his parents had to suffer severe mental trauma due to a cooked up case of embezzlement against her who was working in the same college as a clerk.He alleged that after that case his mother had to take voluntary retirement and his father died amid stress.
Chinu went to the office of DAV College head clerk Raj Kumar Bhalla and pumped in six bullets with his licensed revolver. He then went to college principal Neeraj Gulati, who was holding a meeting, and said that he had killed Bhalla and police could be called as he sat there. According to a source, Chinu kept the revolver on the table and waited for the police while sitting there.
Chinu’s father Rajinder Mehta was the general secretary of the managing committee of the college and his mother Neena Mehta was working as a clerk in the institution. He was nursing a grudge that his mother was harassed by cooking up a false case of embezzlement against her.
