Crime in southern

CHANDIGARH: The entire south division of City Beautiful, especially the areas that falls under the jurisdiction of Sector 36 police station, have turned into a haven for criminals. The crime record of the area in the past few days ��� from robbers striking the house of businessman Lalit Behl in Sector 33 to the theft incident in Sector 35 ��� clearly shows how cops have completely failed to provide security to residents.
Though the special crime and investigation cell nabbed the accused of highway robbery, its failure to solve rest of the cases have raised question marks over the working of the security forces.An official, who is posted at the south division, on condition of anonymity, alleged, ���When officers don���t lead from the front, how can subordinates get guidance and help to trace the cases and solve these.���
Echoing his statements, a cop posted in the office of DSP (south) said, ���Our officers just come to office for sometime only to complete their routine works. Thereafter, it is very difficult to locate them.���
Meanwhile, this decadence in the forces has not remained restricted to a particular area only as sources in the forces revealed that the internal beat system of the entire city has collapsed. ���Presence of cops at the beats and their standard of working has come down. Thus, citizens hesitate to co-operate with us.���
Senior officers are reportedly aware of professional attitude of their juniors.
