Cylinder blasts rip through Burail house, 6 injured
Chandigarh: Panic gripped Burail village on Monday after a series of LPG cylinder explosions ripped through a house, leaving several people injured and causing extensive damage.
According to initial information, at least three cylinders exploded in quick succession inside the house, triggering massive destruction. Eyewitnesses said the first blast sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, and within minutes, two more explosions followed, forcing residents to rush out of their homes in fear.
Locals claimed that multiple LPG cylinders were stored inside the premises, raising suspicion of illegal storage or black-market sale. Authorities are probing whether a gas leak may have triggered the explosions.
The impact was severe, reducing the house to rubble and damaging nearby structures, with reports of cracked walls and shattered windowpanes in adjoining buildings.
Emergency teams from Chandigarh Police, the fire department, and CRPF reached the spot and launched rescue operations. Several people trapped under the debris were pulled out and rushed to hospitals. Officials said multiple persons were injured, some of them critically.
Police have cordoned off the area and initiated a detailed investigation to determine how such a large number of cylinders were stored and whether any illegal LPG trade was being carried out from the premises.
