Jalandhar: A day after the Punjab home department sent replies from senior Punjab Police officers to the Delhi Assembly secretary to explain the FIR in the Atishi video case, in which they defended the registration of the FIR by the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, the Delhi Speaker directed the Punjab DGP to submit more documents, including the forensic report, which was cited by him and the Jalandhar CP to justify the FIR.
In the letter sent to the Punjab DGP, the Delhi assembly secretary wrote that his and the Jalandhar CP's replies were placed before the Speaker, but it was observed that the additional information/documents sought with the first notice issued on January 10 were not provided. The Assembly secretary's letter asked the DGP to provide a copy of the complaint and enclosures on the basis of which the FIR was registered; a copy of the FIR filed in this regard; a copy of the report of the social media expert, technical cell, Punjab Police; and a copy of the Forensic Science Laboratory, Punjab, by January 28.

In their replies, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav and Jalandhar CP Dhanpreet Kaur defended the FIR while sticking to their stand that the former Delhi CM did not utter the word ‘Guru' in her speech.
They also argued that legislative privilege did not apply to this case and that no legislature, particularly from another state, had oversight over their investigations. Delhi Speaker Vijender Gupta saw the FIR as a breach of privilege and asked the Punjab DGP, DGP (cyber security), and the Jalandhar Commissioner of Police to file replies with copies of documents, including the complaint, FIR, and forensic report.
They argued that the FIR pertained to acts committed by unknown persons outside the Delhi Assembly, and that the alleged offence being investigated was the act of clipping/cropping a video clip and digitally tampering with it.
