CHANDIGARH: A faux pas by two administrations running at cross-purposes has left 6,000 aspirants for teachers posts clueless.
With both not willing to budge, the date for written test for recruitment of teachers by UT administration and STET under the Haryana education department is going to be same July 26.
Blaming Haryana for negligence, DPI (S) Samwartak Singh said, We had advertised the schedule prior to Haryana, they should have taken care of it.
The department had no immediate plans to change the date, he added.
When contacted, Rajan Kumar Gupta, principal secretary, Haryana education, said, We advertised for this exam four months ago, it is difficult to change the date at such a short notice as there are almost 1.5 lakh candidates appearing for it.
Passing the buck back to the UT education department, he further said, Somebody should definitely have looked into the matter earlier but now with such a short span of time there is no possibility at all of any change of the schedule.
However, he said State Teachers Eligibility Test (STET) takes place every year and that the UT education department should have made proper arrangements to make sure that no examination clashes with it.
The department had issued admit cards to all eligible candidates for the written test against 536 posts of school teachers advertised in August, 2007, in respect of masters/mistresses.
