Farmers’ march to Chandigarh stopped
Ambala: Farmers associated with Pagdi Sambhal Jatta Kisan Sangharsh Samiti Haryana supported by BKU Shaheed Bhagat Singh were stopped from proceeding to Chandigarh in Shahzadpur police station area on NH-7 by the Ambala police on Monday.
They had started the march for Chandigarh about a week ago. On Monday, they resumed their march towards the state capital from Gurdwara Panjokhra Sahib in Ambala, where they had reached on Sunday for a night stay.

The farmers of this group are demanding compensation for flood loss and loss caused by pink bollworm.
The NH-7 traffic was hit for a couple of hours after which, the traffic movement was allowed partially. Ambala SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa reached the spot and engaged in dialogue with the farmers.
SP Ambala told the farmers that the administration is ready to mediate for talks with the government but they should clear the road, which the protesters claimed they had not blocked. Seven farm leaders were taken to Haryana CMO in Chandigarh but their talks with principal secretary Rajesh Khullar remained conclusive .
BKU SBS spokesperson Tejveer Singh said, “A meeting was held with principal secretary Rajesh Khullar. The government agreed to reopen portals for registering loss caused by pink bollworm, for those who had resown the paddy and suffered loss due to disease in crop, even those farmers who have not insured their crop will also be compensated.”

Farmers in Haryana, affiliated with BKU Shahid Bhagat Singh and BKMU, disrupted train services for four hours by blocking rail tracks in Ambala. This protest, a response to the Rail Roko Andolan in Punjab, aimed to highlight grievances against the Indian government, including relief for flood-affected farmers, establishment of a committee for farmers, and assurance of a minimum support price. The blockade affected around 180 trains, according to Naveen, a senior official at Ambala railway division.
