Chandigarh: At a time when the issue related to a temple that had come up on the premises of a police station in Shahzadpur town of Ambala district is yet to be settled, a similar matter has come up to haunt the
Haryana Police again.
The issue relates to Radha Krishna mandir in the police lines of Sirsa which had allegedly come up in 2009. Haryana director general of police P K Agrawal has asked ADGP Shrikant Jadhav to probe each and every aspect of allegations made in the complaint lodged by Y Puran Kumar, an IG-level officer, who himself had faced action in a temple row of Ambala.
In his complaint, Kumar had claimed that the Sirsa temple had come up during the stint of his colleague Vikas Arora, currently the commissioner of police in Faridabad, when he was SP Sirsa. Kumar had asked the DGP for an in-depth probe under various sections of Punjab Police Services Rules applicable in Haryana.
Seeking details of permissions granted for construction of the temple, Kumar had categorically asked questions about the officer’s role in the matter as well as the source of money used in the construction.
In his communication to ACS home and DGP, Kumar had referred to the action taken against him on the Ambala issue and sought action against the other IPS officer during whose tenure the temple was raised. Kumar had also attached a report prepared and submitted by Arora, the then SP of Sirsa, in accordance with police rules and relevant sections of All India Services rules related to place of worship.
According to information, Kumar had initiated the communication in the matter in November last year. It was in December, the DGP had forwarded the complaint to ACS (home) Rajeev Arora. Last week, the ACS (home) had again down-marked the communication to DGP while giving him a go-ahead for the probe.
On Tuesday, the DGP communicated the same to ADGP Shrikant Jadhav. But Jadhav refused to have received any communication. “Let me see the mandate first, if any,” he said. Notably, Y Puran Kumar was taken to task over the issue of temple in Shejzadpur of Naraingarh sub-division of Ambala district by the then DGP Yadava. Kumar had even moved a criminal complaint against Yadava while moving Punjab and Haryana high court as well.
