MOHALI: The state's new health minister, Chetan Singh Jodemajra visited the civil hospital, Derabassi late on Wednesday night. Derabassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa was also present on the occasion. During his surprise visit, the health minister expressed displeasure at poor cleanliness levels in the hospital.
He reached the hospital at 10pm on Wednesday and stayed for around half an hour.
Randhawa apprised him of the shortage of space and said that if the adjoining BDPO office building was merged with it, then the space problem could be solved.
He added that the Punjab government had given approval for the mother and child center of the state, even though there was shortage of space. The
MLA also told the minister about shortage of doctors and other staff.
On the well-being of patients admitted at the hospital, the health minister expressed displeasure over lack of proper arrangements for cleanliness in the hospital.
He saw dirty, unhygienic conditions near the labour room, for which he reprimanded the staff.
Randhawa said health minister Jodemajra assured that he would soon improve health facilities of Derabassi constituency, including the entire state. He assured that problems of staff and space shortage would be resolved soon.
