Hry NCB attaches 342 assets of drug offenders
Chandigarh: Haryana’s Narcotics Control Bureau claimed to have attached 342 properties worth about Rs 43 crore belonging to the smugglers. “These assets belong to 75 of the state’s major drug offenders,” said a police spokesperson. He said the NDPS Act has a stringent provision that grants the law enforcement agencies the authority to not only seize and freeze, but also forfeit properties that are either derived from or used in illegal drug trafficking activities.

Haryana Police and Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) are cracking down on drug traffickers by implementing the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988. In another recent incident, a soldier in Punjab was arrested for allegedly providing sensitive information to Pakistan's ISI through a drug smuggler. The police are investigating the case with the help of the Indian Army and Intelligence Bureau. Additionally, drug trafficker Malkiat Singh Kali has been arrested in Jalandhar for sending swimmers to retrieve heroin from Pakistan. In Trichy, a drug peddler was arrested with 12.86kg of methamphetamine.
Police serve notice to attach properties of 3 Mukhtar aides
Police in Varanasi have visited the homes of three close associates of jailed mafia leader Mukhtar Ansari to serve notices of property attachment. The three men are wanted in connection with a 1996 kidnapping case and a recent murder case. They are also active members of Ansari's gang. The police have been targeting Ansari's family and gang members, as they have reportedly accumulated illegal earnings amounting to over Rs 1000 crore through activities such as extortion, illegal trades, and government contract grabbing.
